Several weeks after contractors stopped works at the ongoing road rehabilitation projects in some parts of Lagos State, due to what officials attributed to heavy downpour, activities have resumed fully in most of the sites.

When Nigerian Tribune visited some of the sites last week, especially, Odomola axis, most of the illegal structures and other encumbrances blocking the Right of Way (RoA), between the town and Odo-Iragunsen, had been demolished, while tractors were deployed for the evacuation of debris.    Besides, conspicuous activities are also ongoing at Oke-Oso-Atlantic Hall school, en-route Poka community, all in Epe Division area of the state, where road expansion is also ongoing.

Residents were full of praise for the speed at which many of the projects are being pursued, thus, giving credibility to the promise made by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, who gave the assurance that most of the projects would be completed before the end of 2017.

“Urban redevelopment programme embarked upon by the Lagos State government has taken a huge leap in the recent times owing to series of road rehabilitation, especially, in the metropolis, where commuting is described as “hellish!”

“Coming behind the completion and commissioning of several infrastructural projects across the State, including network of roads and bridges, adorned with street lighting infrastructure, monuments and  recreation parks, the completion of new ones attested to the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s plan to make Lagos a liveable place for residents,” said the traditional ruler of Epe Land, Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, whose domain has benefitted immensely from the transformation programmes of the state government.

According to Oba Animashaun, other projects that were recently commissioned, include the Ijegun-Isheri-Osun-Isolo Road, Idimu-Ejigbo Road (Phase II), New Market Road, Camp Davies, among others, were outside Epe and Ibeju-Lekki communities.
